Important Information Regarding Upcoming Virginia Firearm Legislation

As many of you know, there have been a number of recent legislative changes in the Commonwealth of Virginia that will impact the future sale, manufacture, import, purchase, and transfer of certain firearm-related items. These new laws are scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2026.
In an effort to help provide you with the best experience possible, we are recommending purchasing guidelines and deadlines to give our customers the best opportunity to complete transactions for any items affected by the new legislation prior to the July 1, 2026 effective date.
We are also encouraging our customers to review the legislation for themselves and make informed decisions based on their individual circumstances.
Important Dates
FORM 4 SUBMISSION CUTOFF — June 22, 2026
This will be the last day Freedom Outdoors will submit new Form 4 applications for potentially affected SBRs.
LAYAWAY PICKUP DEADLINE — June 25, 2026
This will be the final day to complete payment and pick up potentially impacted layaway items.
TRANSFER & APPROVAL DEADLINE — June 30, 2026
All affected firearm transfers, NFA approvals, background checks, paperwork, and customer pickups must be completed by the close of business on June 30, 2026.
Important Note About The Above Recommendations
The dates we have provided above are recommended guidelines, intended to give our customers the best opportunity to complete purchases and transfers prior to the July 1, 2026 effective date.
As Freedom Outdoors does not control approval timelines from the ATF, Virginia State Police, NICS, or any other government agency, unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee the completion of any transaction by a specific date.
Since approval timelines vary on a case-by-case basis, it is possible that a transaction initiated prior to, in fact may not be completed before the July 1, 2026 effective date.
We are encouraging customers who are considering the purchase or transfer of an affected item to begin the process as early as possible.
